The Only ‘What If’ Content Creators Should Ever Care About

In 2011, I opened my first blog. It was a blog about gaming that included news and reviews. But I didn’t stick with it. It was a blog on a scale of publishing something every day in the best case or publishing something every week in the worst case.

As time went by, the volunteer writers I gathered decided to move on with their lives to pursue college degrees or invest more energy in their actual day jobs. I also started college during that time and couldn’t devote more time beyond my Computer Science studies.

And the site dissolved. We stopped publishing on it, and eventually, it was also deleted.

And for nine years since it was dissolved in 2013, I kept wondering what would have happened if I had kept it afloat. Even one article a week. Couldn’t I manage that somehow?

Every year has 52 weeks. If I had kept it until now, 11 years, I would have had 572 articles with my name on them. Those would have ranked on Google, and I could have made an email list of subscribers who want to stay in touch.

This voluntary website would have evolved into a business, and instead of having free contributors, I could have paid them, too, and have assurances over their work. When it’s voluntary, you can’t complain.

If I had stuck with this site, it would have changed my life. But I’m thankful for the lesson because now I can impart it to you: Don’t give up. Living in regret is better than living with temporary discomfort. Good luck!

Did someone forward this to you? Sign up for The Daily Piece to get a short (up to 350 words) article Sunday-Friday at 8 AM EST. Want to support my work? Buy me a ko-fi or become a paying member.
