The Matrix 4 Is Not Special

But I’m still going to watch it.

So many years ago, when the Matrix movies were coming out, I thought they were the height of technology.

Taking over someone’s body? Living within a simulation? Stopping bullets midair? Slo-Mo?

These were the shit when I was young.

But tell me honestly, could the Matrix, even what we’ve seen so far in the trailer, could stand up to the likes of the Marvel movies? Could it stand up to James Cameron’s Avatar?

I’m guessing hardcore fans would say YES. And I wouldn’t fault you for that. But for me, as someone who loved the original Matrix movies but wasn’t a superfan of the series, I still feel like The Matrix is not going to be a once-in-a-lifetime visual experience. It’s just going to be another movie with some special effects.

And yet, in my opinion, it will still blow up like crazy.
