I used to publish book reviews all the time. But is it still worth it in 2022?

It might surprise you (or not) to learn that reviews still play a significant role in customers’ decision-making process. And because of that, book reviews are here to stay. Let’s talk about it.

Why People Look For Reviews

We don’t like to invest energy in the unknown. But we also don’t like it when someone spoils our book for us. Book reviews provide a mostly non-spoiler way to realize whether the book is something we want to read or not.

It’s like asking for a book recommendation from a friend. You don’t want them to spoil the story, but you also want them to tell you if you’ll like it.

People Want Your Unique Take

Remember the time when Game of Thrones used to air? The 24–48 hours after an episode aired, YouTube would be filled with reaction videos, and many of them got views. Why is that?

People don’t just want to know the cold hard facts — they’re looking for the human connection. For example, I know that the Red Wedding is a tragic incident, I don’t need someone to tell me that, but I could still watch 100 different…
