My College Triumph

Remembering the struggle and where it ended.

My parents were waiting for me to receive that damn piece of paper. It represented so many things to so many people: my qualifications, my knowledge, my ability.

No one knew the triumph that it represented for me. I started my degree in computer science with a failure, then another one, and then another one. Three defeats before I was even considered a regular student.

To be standing there, receiving the piece of paper that marks the end of my studies, was a victory. I did it. I could tell the people that didn’t believe. I could show it to those who were skeptical.

I could give it to my mom and tell her I told you so.
