Joshua, it shows how much you care about this issue, and I applaud you for speaking up for your Muslim friends even though you are - as you say - an outsider.

I want to point out one thing: You start your story by saying you didn't know any Muslim or Jewish people, and then you say you met Miriam - a Muslim woman who shared with you her point of view.

You chose to highlight your relationship with her. Still, you didn't highlight a relationship with a Jewish person - or better yet, an Israeli one - to humanize the other party in this story.

You want to humanize the conflict, and you want to do that without being seen as an antisemitic person? Then what about getting to know what's going on in Israel instead of just looking at the horrifying death statistics?

As an Israeli, I feel like Israeli people who share that their home is valid (because "Free Palestine" means freeing ALL of Israel according to Hamas - the party who rules Gaza) are getting attacked. There's really no other way to define criticizing a Jewish person who just wants to live in peace in their home. Jewish people who weren't born in Israel or have a distant relationship with it are also getting attacked; that's definitely antisemitism.

We can't deny that there's an uptick in hate against Jews. So, please, if you want to humanize the conflict - do it for both sides because it's really easy to side with one party over the other when we don't.
