I Went to The Gym For The First Time Since The Pandemic Hit
Ever had that burning feeling that you need to be doing something but you simply don’t? For some people that could be brushing their teeth, going to sleep on time, or, in my case, not going to the gym.
I kept thinking about it all the time, but from my vantage point, it was more harm than good now with the pandemic.
But you can’t stop going to the gym forever. We all use the 2020 excuse, but we’re already in 2022. Can you believe it? Almost two years since we mostly stopped hugging and touching each other. Terrifying.
And yet, enough was enough.
Lately, I’ve been on an upswing taking vitamins every day, and now also starting #ship30for30 so I need to be scaling up my health game. And working out has so many benefits, both psychological and physical that we so easily dismiss.
Fortunately, I have a residential gym right below my house, which means it’s one of the perks of our building complex. You’re gonna be mad at me for not going, but hear me out — it requires approval to enter each time and you need to go to our lobby to obtain a special key to get in, and then return it when you’re done. It’s too many steps in the way.
But I went anyway. There was another person there and I wanted so bad to turn tail and go home, but I stayed.
Eventually, I managed to do both a little bit of cardio and work on all of my major muscles without straining myself too much. Now, a day after, my muscles feel sore and that’s a great feeling.
If you’ve been delaying yourself from going back to the important stuff in your life, here is your wake-up call — time moves on. Don’t stay in the past.
