I don't have the experience of using the mobile editor as much as the desktop one. And, I agree that it's really weird and arguably a low point in Medium's treatment of their writers, but maybe, instead of offering the editor as part of a "reading" app, they might introduce a writing Medium app that is specifically for writers where we can watch our stats and all that. YouTube has YT Studio, while Facebook has the Business app for Fb and IG. Maybe they want to do something similar for Medium.
